Grampian Kart Club
Grampian Kart Club - Brand & Marketing
Grampian Kart Club (GKC) is a purpose built owner karting venue located near Banff. The Motorsport UK accredited venue was established in 1962 and has since hosted competitive kart racing with household names like David Coulthard, Allan McNish, Paul Di Resta and Susie Stoddart all having once started their motorsport careers at the Aberdeenshire circuit.
Motorsport is an inheritnely expensive sport and whilst karting is a more accessible level the club's brand didn't reflect that of a modern, energetic and professional club. As a motorsport fan and a competitor I was delighted to take on the club's brand & marketing which in less than 12 months has seen the club achieve it's best year of membership and numbers of racers competing at the venue.
Then & Now
At the start of this project it was clear to me that the karts themselves had evolved massively in the last 20 years. The karts raced today are sleek, aerodynamic and modern but in contrast the club's image and brand hadn't evolved.

Time for a rebrand
The long standing logo of GKC featured a keyline of the circuit. This logo wasn't particularly flexible in application so in later years the club adopted a 'GKC' acronym logo. For the rebrand I proposed that we take inspiration from these two most recent logos from the club's 60+ year history to bring the iconic circuit layout back into the identity.

Working the socials
The club's biggest promotion and communication channel is Facebook and Instagram. Working with the club I've helped them elevate their image and presence on these platforms.

I also assisted the club shooting and editing short soical media video promos to drive interest and engagement in special events.
Bespoke Trophies
I proposed to the club the concept of a bespoke trophy for a special event they were hosting. Working with a local sign supplier I designed a set of trophies that were printed vinyl applied to a steel sheet, laser cut and then folded on the bottom edge to stand. The club has asked me to work up more ideas for their 2026 season.

Whilst working for NESCol I arranged to borrow a gimbal and mirrorless camera to try my hand at a cinematic edit for GKC. For a first attempt I was pretty pleased with the results.
